HALLOWEEN!!! It's that time! Ok maybe not, but it is here on my blog! This invitation was inspired by all things glittered and haunted! "Fun, but still a little on the sophisticated side" was the request. My favorite combination! I was so Inspired I did a second invitation with the same colors and concept, just minus the illustration, and in portrait format.
I used universal Halloween themed colors of purple, orange, and of course a rich dark black, but layered in pattern and texture for a more refined look. I can't wait to see this collection in action! I recommend a high gloss paper finish to really make the glitter accents and the rich black pop! There is not much "grunge" in this design (common in Halloween themes) but more "glam". Sparkle. Glitter!
Now if you have the budget, I would print this invitation on a heavy matte paper stock and do a silk laminate. The glitter accents highlighted with gloss. The silk laminate would make the black super rich and the whole card would have a silky feel to it; kinda velvety. I like to think it somehow makes me better by imagining what paper and technology enhancements will make the design really stand out. By not only designing the imagery but designing the experience as well. Eh, I may have gone all "artist" on you there for a second. The high gloss finish will still deliver the same deep rich black, but on a smaller budget. On to the inspiration board!
